The Team Leader - BAU plays a crucial role in overseeing payroll operations, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing for clients. This position is responsible for managing payroll specialists, optimizing workflows, driving automation initiatives, and maintaining service excellence. The role requires strong leadership, technical proficiency, compliance expertise, and a commitment to continuous improvement. The Team Leader collaborates closely with the Manager - BAU, cross-functional teams, and stakeholders to enhance payroll service delivery and support digital transformation.

Qualifications / Skills

Minimum Requirements for Candidates

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, HR, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in global payroll outsourcing payroll operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Proven experience in managing multi-regional payroll operations and compliance.
  • Strong background in payroll technology solutions, SaaS platforms, and automation-driven service delivery.
  • Experience with ERP, HCM, payroll software, and FinTech integrations.
  • Deep knowledge of payroll compliance, regulatory requirements, and risk management.
  • Prior leadership experience in managing high-performing teams and process optimization.

  • Strong problem-solving skills to address and resolve payroll discrepancies and issues.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and systems, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) and google docs.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • In-depth understanding of federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee end-to-end payroll activities, including data validation, processing, reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Ensure that payroll transactions comply with local and international tax laws, labor laws, and statutory requirements.
  • Ensure payroll deadlines are met in accordance with agreed SLAs and client requirements.
  • Lead, mentor, and support payroll specialists, providing guidance on best practices, compliance, and efficiency improvements.
  • Encourage knowledge sharing and cross-training to build a resilient and multi-skilled payroll team.
  • Collaborate with the Manager - BAU and IT teams to integrate AI-driven tools, RPA (Robotic Process Automation), and digital workflows.
  • Monitor payroll performance using KPIs and analytics to identify areas for process optimization.
  • Leverage payroll data analytics to forecast workload, staffing needs, and payroll costs.
  • Ensure full compliance with local labor laws, tax regulations, wage laws, and company policies across all payroll processes.
  • Work with the Compliance and Legal teams to address payroll-related legal matters and regulatory changes.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for payroll-related queries from internal teams, clients, and third-party service providers.
  • Develop real-time dashboards to monitor key payroll KPIs, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
  • Establish monthly payroll operations reports with actionable insights.
  • Support the Manager - BAU in governance meetings, SLA reviews, and service performance evaluations.
  • Oversee payroll tax compliance, wage regulations, and statutory reporting.
