Job Description

The Senior Specialist – Configurations plays a critical role in the successful implementation and maintenance of client-specific backend configurations within Mercans’ global payroll and HCM platform, HR Blizz (HRB). The role involves translating complex client documentation into precise system configurations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and performance across various HRB modules. The Senior Specialist operates as a subject matter expert in system configuration and supports the Manager – Product Configurations in ensuring high-quality, timely delivery of configuration services. This position also includes mentoring junior team members and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver seamless client experiences.

Qualifications / Skills

Minimum Requirements for Candidates

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in payroll, HCM, or WFM platform configuration and implementation.
  • Advanced knowledge of HTML, XML, and MS SQL.
  • Expertise in Excel, including complex formula creation and data modeling, is mandatory.
  • Strong ability to analyze documentation and configuration issues to determine effective and efficient solutions.

Expectations for Ideal Candidates

Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of the configuration lifecycle for assigned clients, from initial requirement analysis to go-live support.
  • Review all input documentation for completeness, coherence, and alignment with HRB capabilities.
  • Identify gaps, contradictions, or ambiguities and liaise with internal teams or clients to clarify and refine requirements.
  • Configure wage types in compliance with client and country-specific tax, labor, and social security regulations.
  • Configure HRB system parameters and modules (e.g., Payroll Admin Console, Time & Attendance, Leave Management, Benefits) based on validated client needs.
  • Detect and document functionality gaps between HRB’s standard offering and client requirements.
  • Rectify issues and communicate patterns or systemic errors to the QA Team Lead for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain complete and organized configuration documentation for every project, including setup steps, custom formulas, testing protocols, and client communications.
  • Guide and support junior configuration specialists, providing technical advice, peer reviews, and coaching as needed.
