Job Description

Support the Manager by conceptualizing, planning and implementing PTC’s external communications. External stakeholders and Public Authorities and Press to keep them informed of PTC developments and ensure that messages are consistent.

Qualifications / Skills

Minimum Requirements for Candidates

  • A bachelor degree in in communications, public relations, or marketing.
  • Significant public transportation industry experience with successful track record, typically 4-6 years with minimum 2 years in managing press & media for a reputed company.
  • Experience as a journalist.
  • Training as a journalist

Expectations for Ideal Candidates

  • A relevant master's degree

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing an integrated communications strategy for the company incorporating press and PR.
  • Implement communications plans to increase brand awareness and recognition for PTC.
  • Identify communication strategies and appropriate communication channels with the external world.
  • Development of communications policies and plans for external communications.
  • Assist in preparation of external communications plans and policies.
  • Monitor success of plans and recommend updates as required
  • Communicate work values and brand stakeholders and Press & Media.
  • Ensure that press and Media are aware of changes and projects within PTC.
  • Distribute executive messages, prepare presentations and conduct meetings to share information with Press and Media.
  • Assist in the creation of press releases and speeches given by executives.
  • Ensure the systematic collection, review and analysis of market information to identify tactics, market trends, new opportunities and challenges
  • Communicate with the media and other interested parties to announce new services and discuss organizational changes in a way that attempts to maintain a positive image of PTC.
  • Represent PTC to stakeholders, interested parties, and the public.
  • Serve as PTC spokesperson to the media and the general public.
  • Develop and distribute materials that may explain or convey PTC's policies or position on issues.
  • Issuing press releases and arranges press conferences, seminars and exhibitions.
  • Assist in maintaining a strong brand for PTC, including impactful and fit-for-purpose publications,
  • Prepare press statements and articles on public transportation issues for external communications for the review of Communication Manager
  • Manage the publication and promotion of PTC materials, including design and printing.
  • Ensure that PTC communication outputs are of a high standard, respond to the needs of the target audience, and are delivered within agreed budget and timelines.
  • Prepare written materials for public awareness campaigns.
  • Maintain a range of publications to meet communications goals.
  • Identify target audiences.
  • Identify and co-ordinates with vendors to prepare materials, e.g. brochures, posters, media releases, newsletters, promotional products, banners and internet text.
  • Assist in implementation appropriate promotional strategies such as positioning.
  • Identify activities/events in the public transportation industry that are likely to become media issues.
  • Recommend strategies to manage the issues, including identifying appropriate responses and communication channels.
  • Assist in preparation communications materials.
  • Assist in build on existing and develop new relationships with media, key decision makers, member organizations and others.
  • Develop relationships with key media to secure and grow media coverage both online and offline to strengthen the reputation of PTC.
  • Coordinate media and public affairs activities to promote PTC position.
  • Manage the monitoring of media and current affairs developments, across a range of media.
  • Maintain and develop links with local media outlets to facilitate good communication and ensure fair and accurate coverage of PTC activities.
  • Monitor press stories relating to PTC and its brand and maximize opportunities for positive PR and playing down any negative PR.
  • Maintain current contact details of relevant journalists.
  • Prepare media statements.
  • Respond to media enquiries.
