Job Description

Responsible for scheduling preventive and regular maintenance with minimal interruption to PTC operations. Realizes the planning and scheduling of maintenance activities and apply the regulatory and procedural standards of maintenance when planning and managing maintenance schedules.

Qualifications / Skills

Minimum Requirements for Candidates

  • Apprenticeship program or technical school background is necessary. Automotive mechanical/electrical engineering background is desirable.
  • Mastery of IT tools.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive technology.
  • Know the basics of maintenance.
  • Know the state of art in mechanical, electrical, bodywork, paint and vehicle electronics.
  • Know the phases necessary for the implementation of various maintenance operations on one vehicle.
  • Know the exit hedging process.
  • Know the architecture of the buses which the unit is equipped as well as equipment, tools, and equipment available to officers.
  • Minimum of 3 years adequate craft experience and skills to accurately estimate labor hours, material requirement and skills needed to complete a job.

  • Be the principle contact and liaison between the Engineering department and operations planning throughout the MMS.
  • On behalf of the Engineering Supervisor, review all planned work request from assigned area and determine validity and accuracy of information and engages the appropriate resources to set a preliminary priority.
  • Review work request for accuracy and clarity: clear scope of work, realistic completion date, proper lead times, correct equipment identification, proper charge number (if applicable), proper authorization, and discuss details with originator of the work order.
  • Identifies work requiring engineering design and review them with Workshop Supervisor.
  • Escalates issues to the Engineering Supervisor for work which does not appear to be valid or costly.
  • Review the work to be performed and proposes the best way to accomplish the work.
  • Identifies and secures all spare parts and material required to complete the work by providing the Storekeeper with a Bill of Material for the work order.
  • Manages a backlog of work orders which require major or significant portion of the workshop to be occupied.
  • Works with Engineering Manager and Engineering Supervisor to determine resource availability and work to level the work force.
  • Optimizes workforce productivity and minimizes workshop downtime by managing work 2 weeks to 1 month in advance.
  • Facilitation of daily and weekly work planning meetings with Engineering, Operations and other supporting departments.
  • Schedules and assigns the work integrating both the operation's and maintenance's needs.
  • Conducts the planning and scheduling of maintenance activities and create maintenance schedules.
  • Participates in the development of production planning.
  • Works with the Warehouse Supervisor to manage spare part usage to maximize turns but minimize risk of using critical spares.
  • Participates in planning out the maintenance (of bus, equipment, buildings) with other parties such as the Workshop Supervisor.
